All, I believe, is the result of the VA leaving these things so long untreated that they have become especially severe. They do not get better on their own, or with treatment that was so stupid it actually worked to make them better. The vehicle-related panic attacks were and are tackled with little more than, "Oh, just get on the bus, get till the panic attack gets to be bad, then ride it out." No help, no assistance---just, you're on your won, get over it. "Get Depends," suggested one therapist. There was no consdieration of what would happen if I passed out on the city bus and how that would affect me emotionally.
